Electrification in Bentleigh EastThe same three gas appliances, in two kinds of house
Bentleigh East was gas from the start. The postwar homes came with ducted gas heating in the roof or under the floor, a gas storage tank against the side wall and a gas cooktop. The double-storey rebuilds that followed often kept the pattern, with gas ducted heating and a separate cooling system. Either way, there are three gas appliances sharing one supply charge.
Home electrification Bentleigh East households take on usually runs in this order: heating, hot water, cooktop, with solar and a battery sized for where the house ends up. Reverse cycle heats for around a third of the running cost of gas heating and does the cooling as well. When the last gas appliance goes, you can stop paying for a gas connection you no longer use.
The switchboard comes first, though. Our Bentleigh East solar job needed a main board upgrade, and postwar homes here often need one before they can carry a ducted unit, a heat pump, induction and a battery on a single-phase supply. We plan it for the full load at the first visit. See our Bentleigh East services.
