Electrification in BitternLess about the gas meter, more about the roof
The home electrification Bittern properties need looks different from the suburbs closer to the city. Many properties run on bottled LPG or a wood heater rather than a full set of gas appliances, the supply is often three-phase, and the load includes sheds and pumps as well as the house. So the first question is not how to get rid of gas. It is how much solar and battery the place needs to run itself.
Once that is sized, the electric appliances follow: reverse cycle heating and cooling to replace the wood heater or old gas space heaters, heat pump hot water in place of the bottle or element tank, induction instead of the LPG cooktop, and an EV charger for the driveway or shed. Each runs on the property's own generation as much as possible, with the battery covering the evening.
Because each step is sized against the others, it pays to set the plan out in one go even if you install it over a few years. Our Bittern page covers the rest of what we do locally.
