Electrification in Botanic RidgeBig homes, built for gas, ready to switch
Botanic Ridge homes are big, and that shapes how they go electric. Most were built from the mid 2000s with ducted gas heating through a large floor plan, gas hot water and often a gas cooktop. The good roofs and modern wiring make the switch easier than in an older suburb, but the size of the house means the heating is the part to get right. A large ducted home needs a properly sized reverse cycle system with zoning, not a unit picked to match the old heater.
We start with one inspection that covers the whole house: the ducted heater and its ducts, the hot water unit, the cooktop, the switchboard, the supply and the roof. From that comes one plan. Some owners do it all at once; others start with the heating, then hot water, then solar and a battery sized to the new load, and the cooktop last. Either way nothing has to be redone later, because the solar and the switchboard are sized for where the house is going.
Some of the newest streets were built with no gas at all. For those, the work is mostly solar, storage, an EV charger and perhaps upgrading an electric element hot water tank. We work out which kind of house you have on the first visit, along with the rest of our Botanic Ridge work.
