Electrification in DandenongWall furnaces, ducted gas and a 1970s board
Dandenong homes come off gas in a slightly different way from the newer suburbs around them. Many of the weatherboards and brick veneers still heat with a gas wall furnace in the lounge or hallway, others have ducted gas in the roof, and most have a gas storage tank outside and a gas cooktop in the kitchen. Home electrification Dandenong style starts by listing those appliances and how old each one is.
Then comes the switchboard. Swapping four gas appliances for electric ones adds heating, hot water and cooking circuits, and possibly a charger, to a board that may be the original. We check the board and the supply at the first visit and plan any upgrade once, so it is not done twice as the house changes.
From there it is a sequence, not a single big job. Most Dandenong owners start with whichever gas appliance is closest to failing, usually the heater or the hot water, and add the rest as it suits them. We write the whole plan at the first inspection, and it sits with the rest of our Dandenong work.
