Electrification in MordiallocOlder homes, three gas appliances, one plan
A typical Mordialloc period home, renovated or not, still has gas doing three jobs: heating, hot water and the cooktop. The heating might be ducted gas in the roof, or a wall furnace in the hallway of an older place. The newer townhouses often have the same three, just in a smaller footprint. So the home electrification Mordialloc homes need comes down to replacing each of those with an electric option and then sizing solar and a battery to carry the new load.
We have already done part of this in Mordialloc. On one tiled home we fitted 13.3kW of Jinko solar and a GoodWe battery on the southern wall beside the switchboard, and replaced the gas cooktop with induction on its own circuit. That job shows how it usually goes here: the switchboard sets the limits, and everything is planned around what it can carry.
You do not have to do it all at once. Some owners start with hot water, some with heating before winter, some with solar. What matters is one plan from the first inspection, so the solar is not too small for the heat pumps and the board is not upgraded twice. More on our general work in Mordialloc is on the suburb page.
